Torque Converter lock up
Hey Guys, got a 2001 4.7 QC 4X4
Just wondering if I have a issue with my tranny or just time to change the filter.
When cold it takes about 5 minutes at Highway speed for the Torgue Converter to lock in.
I drive at say 60 mph at about 2200 rpm then after a while the torgue converter locks in and the rpm's drop to 1600-1800.
So is the tranny starting to go, I have about 130K on the truck?

Congrats on the new truck.
The answer to your question is: None of the above.
Your truck is doing as designed. It won't go into lockup when cold. The transmission fluid needs to be above a certain temp.
It wouldn't hurt to change the fluid but drop the pan and change it that way. Be sure to use an ATF +4 fluid.
The tranny is fine.
