Default looking a buying a 01 dakota but...

There is a ticking/knock in the driver side head, and the oil pressure reads pretty low! But this doesn't happen untill it runs for about 10 minutes(idle)

Now i did some google research, and i seen some people saying it could be the oil i just to thin/bad?

Have you guys had any experience with this?

Ps. the only reason im still looking at buying this truck is because i can get it for 400$, 4 door, 4.7 ltr, 4x4.

Thanks in advanced!

Brent.

For $400 ? I wouldn't care if it ran at all for that price. If the body is in fairly good shape, go buy it.

$400 is almost as much as what you could get back for scrapping the truck.

I'd say buy it.

About the oil pressure and knocking, I have a 1st gen 95 so not sure if it has a timing chain but a stretched timing chain can knock pretty good, check these vids for the sound

My truck's oil pressure always shows low on the 2nd line but sometimes it goes up to the middle or up 1/4.

thanks for the video replys, it kinda sounds like that. I'm ganna grab it tomorrow and i'll most likely start by taking off the oil pan and checking out the pump.

And yes i know that 400$ is cheap, how ever i was not asking if it was a good price.

For 400 buy it. If the body panels are good you can easily make 1k off of them. Bed alone would go for 200.00 easy. hood 150.00 doors 250.00 for both. Then you have stuff like seats, dash stuff, engine parts, gas tank, skid plates, axles, wheels and tires. Even if you have to replace the engine you are prob makin out on it unless there is tons of rust on it.

i know, iv dont that to plenty of cars/trucks.

Im just wondering what it could be, the ticking/knock doesnt start untill its warmed up, and theres no oil pressure.

So what i thought it was the oil pump, not sending oil to the top end.

Because if it was a dropped valve seat(or rocker arm) then wouldnt it be constantly making a noise?
