Welcome to the forum!

Well to start, the 3.7 isn't a Magnum, it is actually a Power Tech. Not important though since your doing a swap anyway.
I'm not sure about the availability of parts in Hawaii, but first off you need to think about what you are aiming for. If you're looking for big power then swap in the 5.9. It would be best if you found a good donor truck too.

Thank you 4.. Warm welcome..
No.. I'm not looking for any power right now
What is plan is to make my truck run.
With the parts I get right now
But I don't where to really start .. My
1st swap so.. If you guys give the knowledge
That a big help on me...
The info:
I get my 2004 still complete (my project)
And I get my 1998 3.9 also complete
( my donor ) salvage no paper that's why
I'm parting it out... But saving the parts
That I need for the swap
So now my problem is
1) Ecu - how to deal with the wire
Or can I use the same Ecu
2) alternator - don't know but it's my first time
encounter this the 3.9 gets a positive wire
And the 3.7 power tech gets a negative/ground
wire...
3) transmission - what is more better to use
Both automatic

This would be an easier swap if your donor were another 3.7 or a 4.7 V8. The 3.9, 5.2 and 5.9 are all part of the same family and fairly easy to swap between but going from one to another is going to be a lot more work. You will need the 3.9 ecu, wiring...basically they are two engine families and you will need to swap a lot of the 3.9 stuff over and won't be able to use a whole lot of the 3.7 stuff. Different transmissions as well. The one behind the 3.7 will be more reliable but I don't think they can be used on the 3.9, but don't take my word on that. Hopefully some others can chime in on this.

A Dakota in Hawaii? Wow, when I was there I maybe saw a handfull of Dakotas. Everyone there drives Toyota or at least it seemed like it.
It will be soo much easier if you would swap in another 3.7 or even a 4.7 rather than a 3.9,5.2,5.9. the drive train is very different between these two generations of motors.

You have a lot of work ahead of you. You'll need to use the 3.9 ECU and wire harness, you will also need to use the 3.9 trans. Basically everything that is hooked up the 3.9 needs to be swapped over.

I still have both truck complete
So from Ecu to wiring and trans is still complete
Going to post picture when im going to start
This on sunday ..

@urbanrdneck your right bro
Must truck here Tacoma and Chevy
Only few get Dakota that's make the parts hard
To come

So I need my 3.9 Ecu and wire for the swap
I take a picture and compare the two
Transmission just for others reference
And keep it just in case I need it in the future

Also pls tell me how the 3.7 get the negative
Alternator wire..

Aloha!

What island are you on? Traveled to that beautiful state a couple of times and spent time on Kauai, Maui, Oahu, and Hawaii.

Sorry I don't have any experience in the swap you are doing, good luck!
