Default Got a F*rd

Yeah guys, that's right... Over the weekend I came across a deal on this Ford that I couldn't turn down. It's a 1978 Ford F250 SuperCab Camper Special. It's got a 351 modified paired to a C6 auto tranny. Has an 8 foot bed, so it's a BIG truck. Runs a bit rough but it just needs a tune up. Also has many wonderful electrical hackjobs from previous owners (mainly a mess of random wires under dash for accessories I'm guessing). Anyway, I scooped it up for $900, I've seen these go for a few grand so I went for it. I will most likely wind up putting a bit of work into it and selling (for a profit), but I may keep it. I'm undecided, but for now I'm keeping my Kota.

I LIKE IT! I totally know what you mean about the electrical hackjobs - I'm just now getting that all squared away with my Dakota.

You gonna keep the windshield visor on there?

Yeah, there's like 3 random lights, one by trailer hitch, one in bed and one somewhere else I'm forgetting. That antenna on the driver's side is an abandoned CB antenna that's just hanging there, and there's quite a few other wires under the dash that I'm still figuring out. And yes, I plan on leaving the visor on there.

Thanks man, this is by far my favorite generation of Fords. They just aren't built like they used to be.

I agree. My first job out of high school was on a grounds crew at a local college. The trucks that they had were all late 70's early 80's F150's. They were seemingly indestructible!

That is a good looking truck, I really liked that body style, My uncle, way back when, had a new one with a lift lift, huge tires and a loud exhaust, I thought it was so cool to ride with him but I was 7 years old in 1976

We actually just got rid of our '69 F250. It's been sitting a long time and a guy from work wanted the axles and t-case for a rock crawler he's building so we dragged it out this weekend. It hasn't moved in 23 years and the back tires still have air!

To the OP, that truck is in good shape. I love old Ford trucks. We got rid of this one because it was way too big of a project for us. It's in rough shape so a guy at work is taking it for some parts and we're going to scrap the rest. I would love to buy another 1969 F-250 because I really like them.

Yeah I had an 81' F-100 I loved that truck; had a rebuilt tranny and 5.0 HO from an 84' Mustang.

Wow! Yeah, I would love to some day restore something like that, but that would be too much of a project for me right now. This truck I got seems to be just right for the type of project I was looking for. Pretty much any Ford truck before the 80s I love, even the old 40s and 50s ones with the fat fenders. I think it'd be cool to eventually have restored a Ford truck from each generation. But obviously stop at like 70s or so because I don't really like the newer ones.
