Question Spare tire yes or no?

Currently do not have a spare tire in my truck. I am considering putting one in. The question is, does everyone run with a spare onboard or just carry a can or two of fix a flat or slime?

Well ya see... This is where you get a dumb answer from me!

I currently have the spare on my truck but I took the jack out hahaha.

I have GM Roadside Assistance (from my grand prix) so I'm good. But then again I have never gotten a flat which left me on the side of the road. I have always either gotten a nail or tack in the tire which I just fixed at home with a repair kit.

If you do a lot of offroad driving then I would say throw a spare on there, if not don't worry about it.

I didnt have one on my dakota for 3 years lol. My state farm insurance has road side assistance so didnt really care if I got a flat or not. Plus didnt go anymore than about 50 miles or so from home.

i say better to be prepared. what would be the drawbacks to you personally for having one?

I agree. I carry the full size spare and make sure it's inflated. I do have a small air compressor if a tire gets low but you won't find me using that fix a flat stuff.

BONUS: As light as our trucks are in the rear, it can use all the help it can get.

I have a spare on my truck. Why not? There's a place for it and it doesn't bother anything to have it on there.

On my motorcycle, I have a repair kit. It you don't want to carry a spare, I'd at least carry a repair kit and a portable air compressor. They make those ones you can plug into your cigarette lighter.

Only drawback is getting a tire for the rim I have and that I don't have the tool to raise/lower the tire. Anyone know the socket size that would fit the crank bar so I don't have to hunt for the toolkit (didn't come with truck)?

A boneyard will have everything you need. You can probably find the whole toolkit still in its fake leather pouch.

Even a crappy used tire, as long as it fits the rim, will work in an emergency.
