Default Broken Lug Nut

So I'm trying to take the wheels off for the first time after having Canadian Tire install new tires for me. All this time I'm having an absolute ***** of a time. I mean, I'm putting all my weight on these sob's and I'm a 200lb guy, got 4 to move after 20 friggin minutes and then I come across the 5th with a cap over it and when I get the cap off I discover that 5/6 edges are bent inward. I can't get a socket over it or the Xbar without it slipping so right now I'm SOL. I don't have air tools and even if I did I still dont think I can get anything around it. Some jackass at Canadian Tire must've over-tightened it to the point where he bent the lug nut inward.

The reason why I was tryin to get the wheel off is cause I hear a squeeking at low speeds so I'm thinkin its the upper ball joint since lower was just replaced or the wheel bearing which I've been told is bad.

What are my options here? Can't really cut it without damaging the rim.

Dad I and I always when we had this problem would find something to get on there rather is a massive pair of plairs or even something that might strip the lug.. with enough force the post will break and you can tap it off and replace the stud.. but your gonna need an impact to suck the nut in fully flush...

I'd be inclined to put the others back on and take it back to Canadian Tire and tell them to get the thing loose.

@copperleaf
I would be tempted to do that if I discovered it at the time I got the tires put on. Like I said this would have been the first rotation I did but I also wanted to check the balljoint/hub. It was in December when I had the new tires put on.

@jondakotaguy
Are you suggesting that I break the entire stud? I would really want to avoid doing that incase the the entire hub doesn't need to be replaced. Also, wouldn't you damage the rim doing that?

Cheers

I had the same problem when I did my ball joints awhile back. Craftsman makes a socket called Lug-Out. Basicalling you hammer it on the stripped lug and get a breaker bar and jump on it until it breaks loose. It will also save you the time of having to replace the lug bolt itself.

It depends if they are made to or welded some how to the hub; depends on your truck. Ford did their right back in the day and you could take the hub off and tap the studs out..

Not sure on these trucks.. I know the rear you can replace.. no problem.. not sure on the front.

Throw them sombitches back on and take up to them and tell them you want it off and then re torqued at 150 ft.lb. We never ever put lug nuts back on with the impact we get them snug with it then get out the torque wrench and tighten them down. You can heat it up with a torch if you have one. If you do get it off I would still call crappy tire and bitch them out. You can pound those studs out I did one on a jeep before.

Went ahead and added 2 pictures of what I am dealing with.

From the pictures it actually doesn't look too bad, but I can't get the xbar or a socket to catch the nut. I called Can Tire and will bring my truck in tomorrow morning to get it serviced.

Oh and dodge ram guy - are you sure its 150 ft lbs? Online it says 100 ft lbs.

Default same but Diff?

I had something similar happen to me got new tires a year later I pop off the hub cap to find one stud snapped off and here is the suck part that is the same one I had them put on a new stud when I got the new tires so they put a new one on but snapped one off at the same time.

How pathetic is that.

I also found out the stud they did replace was too long and was pushing my wheel out of round and causing my tire to wobble somewhat.

Talk about morons
