I am changing transmission in 2004 Dakota.
i have a paper 2001 dakota factory service manual, they are VERY hard to find. i payed $150. for mine. but there have been so many cats at his site that i found info for it was worth every penny. the Chiltons is a good book. my dad and i used the Motors brand books. i guess i have 10-15 Motors brand, and 15-20 chrysler factory service manuals. my dad would get factory manual every time he bought a car, some new some used.

after you clean the trans. add this to your chrysler trans. an external fluid filter
1. go to auto-zone. get 2210, its called a power steering filter, but it is for transs to. it is for 3/8 tubing. by (magna-fine) be sure to use high pressure hose.
2. for other sizes wix 58964 5/16 tube size

or get
http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...Perf/_/N-ajdu9
or trans dapt with a full size filter and go to 1/2 inch lines for much more coolant flow
for a cooler get the 11 x 11 plate type cooler also with 1/2 inch lines
oil proof hose works well in this low pressure situation
There is a reason the diesels use 1/2 inch lines
