Default HELP PLEASE!!!! dash and tail lights dont work

2004 Dakota 3.7 V6 72k miles

All of the sudden my dash lights and tail lights stopped working. Searched the web, seems to be a common dodge problem but I cant find a solution.

Just 2 days ago, resistor plug for my AC melted and shorted, so that had to be replaced....wouldnt surprise me if this was another POS dodge electrical connector melting...but I have no idea.

I CHECKED ALL FUSES.....they all seem fine. Ideas?

Ok update....I found a fuse that was blown, #4 in the inside drivers side fuse panel...20A fuse....replaced it, the tail and dash lights turned on (but tail lights were dim) and then fuse popped....now right side blinker/ tail light doesn't work....repeated twice...fuse keeps popping....any clue wtf is going on?

Sounds like a short.

Have you been getting a lot of rain from Debby? Maybe water got into a connection.

Wish I had more for you.

Yes, as a matter of fact, it's been raining the past 3 days non stop. Is there a way to narrow down my search for the short? I'm thinking start in the rear tail light/ trailer hitch area?

That's where I'd start too.
