Default Put a qaurt of tranny fluid in my oil and this is what I found(picture).

So I have a friend that went to school for auto tech that told me about doing this. He said he does this every third oil change. He adds a quart of tranny fluid instead of oil. I asked at a couple auto part stores and a lot of people heard of it but never actually did it or never heard of doing it so I was a little leery. I decided to do it but didn't wanna run 3,000 miles with it so 200 miles before my oil change today I drained a quart of oil out and added a quart of trans fluid. When I emptied my drain pan today I found all sorts of little black lumps on the bottom. When I touched them it was almost like really fine sand held together with some sludge. I'm guessing this stuff can't be good for the engine. So adding the trans fluid really did help clean stuff out I think. Also I always run Quaker State 5w30 Full Synthetic with a fram ph16 filter and I change my oil religiously every 3K miles. And Its a 4.7l Any Ideas on if I should try this for a full 3k miles or where these black lumps come from?

Default Same as MMO

This is a good idea it’s the same as using MMO to clean your engine.

MMO is MARVEL MYSTERY OIL

(I prefer) a motor flush like gunk motor flush it flash flushes the engine you put it in a cold engine fun it 5 to 8 minutes then drop your oil. MMO is a slow cleaner you put some in your engine and run it about two weeks then drop your engine oil not as good as gunk but probably safer because it slowly cleans out the sludge in your engine.

I have tried both I like the MMO flush being safer but the motor flush did a great job of getting grit out of my engine kind of like the sand looking stuff you found

If your engine has never been flushed/cleaned in many years I suggest using MMO as it will slowly clean out the grit and sludge the flash flush could unlodge too much grit and sludge at one time and clog up your engine

Exclamation To be safe

I suggest using MMO for the next three oil changes to slowly clean your engine just put some in the engine two or three weeks before your oil change this will be safer than a harsh fast flush like the gunk motor flush then maybe next year do a harsh flush with the gunk motor flush.

Once had a Ford 289 that had lifter noise, used atf frequently to quiet the noise, and it did work. I'd be careful, though, about flushing and putting in additives, especially since you're finding hard stuff coming out of the engine. I'd rather have those stuck to the block than circulating in the oil. Scares me that you're seeing that with your frequent oil changes. I use QS synthetic in my Intrepid, and I hope it's not forming clumps in my engine. Gunk engine flush is similar to adding kerosene. Great solvent, lousy lubricant. My advice is to leave it alone, or as was suggested, use a light cleaner like MMO.

Another outstanding testimonial for the JUNK FRAM FILTERS!! Get yourself a NAPA Gold (Wix) 1085 and save your engine.

Default I agree 100%

I agree 100% dump the Fram filters they are crap low quality and low filtering use WIX or Mobile 1 both by far superior than Fram crap.

FRAM was good about 20 years ago not now they are cheap junk another good name down the toilet for profit.

It's in the sump because it doesn't float and won't get picked up by the oil pump. It'll never make it to the oil filter.

Is the oil filler cap on tight? No junk got in, adding oil maybe? No cracks in the pvc system letting in dirt?

Are you sure the pan was clean when you started?

So a lot of people say screw the fram filter. And the filler cap was tight, even though the 4.7l filler cap is the worst ever I think. I'm pretty sure I would not have got anything in it adding oil because I have one funnel and that's its only use. And I don't know about the pcv system. I also know the pan was clean because my dad would rip me a new one if I put it back dirty and I know he always cleans it out.
