Default How to Measure Torsion Bar Crank?

How do you measure how high the truck is when you crank the tbars. I've cranked the driver side and have yet to do the passenger side but even after tightening the bolt the driver side is still 1 inch lower than the passenger and I haven't even touched the passenger side yet.

If you look at the truck from dead on you can see that the level of the passenger side is more acute than the drivers side which leads me to believe that something is broken on the driver side front end preventing the truck from actually raising.

I know this is may be hard to understand but basically I tightened the driver side torsion bar and nothing happened. From the bottom of the fender it sits 36 inches (3 feet) and the passenger sits 37 inches and I haven't touched it yet.

Im tightening them - not loosening unless these are reverse threaded which I highly doubt.

Ground is level

Tires are properly inflated.

The rear driverside fender sits 37.5 inches off the ground, the rear passenger fender sits 38 inches off the ground.

Help?

Driver's side usually sits a little lower over time due to weight (gas tank and driver). Your bumper may be off too.

I measure from center cap to fender or ground to fender. Keep tightening the bolt or loosen passenger's side bolt to even it out. But make sure you keep the upper control arms off of the bump stops. Leave a little space between them.

To add to my post, when I had my torsion bars cranked and with 285/75/16s, approximately 33", my front fenders measured right at 39".

Yeah I realzied gas tank is one driver side and thought about that too, the truck just doesn't see to lift on the driver side. I had to lower the passenger side to stock to equal it out.

I only had a 1/4 tank of gas so I can't see that being THAT much weight, it wasn't lifting at all.

I wouldn't think the gas tank would effect the front at all... There's an entire engine, trans, radiators, etc, etc resting on the front suspension. I don't think the gas tank is going to make the difference.

Yeah I hear ya bpark. I was just concerned that it wasn't lifting at all and I was turning it quite a bit.

I ended up leaving the driver side alone and lowered the passenger side so they were even.

GOnna try and figure out what's wrong. I expect it to raise a little regardless if it has a lil more weight than the passenger.

Weak torsion bar thats the only thing that can make it sag. Try bouncing the front end a few times and see if it changes.
