Arent autos faster mainly because you never remove load from the engine and that makes you never loose to much boost at shifts? .
Well when you have to up grade a clutch like to a dual disk it wont shift as fast as a single disk. So you loose a little bit there. Having a proper turbo setup will spool pretty fast even when you let off to shift.
A 700 hp number is gonna require billet shafts in the tranny. Plus you are gonna want a drive line that will take that.

"Beware cummins are HEAVY! Need lots of bracing for that." this be VERY true. to get an idea on how much strength you need, go to a salvage yard and compare a non diesel 1500 empty of engine to a diesel 2500 empty of engine, this will give you how much bracing you will need. and dont for get a rear axle, you will have to get a special cut rear end to fit the width of a dakota. i think i saw, a pic, one as a race truck at Bonneville. i think it was by Banks.
