well for an update my crazy plans have been at a stand still cause of the lack of work. lack of work means no money to spare so thats y u guys havent seen any updates in a while. But it seems like my work is starting to pick up so i should be able to start saving up to start the project. hopefully i will have atleast the funds to get the donor truck and gut the truck. btw i was look at acouple of dodge rams thinking about what dodgeramguy85 said and i think if i get the ram frame i can resize the frame to fit the dakota panels to keep the look .

Gotta say I'm really enjoying my Cummins swap after about 10,000 miles - '99 extended cab 5-speed. Seeing 26 mpg regularly. It's a 4bt in the standard engine compartment so not nearly as complicated a swap. Mid-engine is an interesting idea, but sounds like 10x the work...

So question. Can I put a 5.9 Cummins into my 91 Dakota without doing all the stuff he wants to do? I don't wanna move my motor or anything just wanna convert to the 5.9 Cummins is it possible?

Will need to beef up the suspension(straight axle) Thats why I said its better off to get a ram frame and adapt the dakota body onto it. Plus its also way stronger. You will be able to tow way more than the stock dakota could(since the frame is light duty)
