OK, I think I've got all the grounds checked and cleaned. The only questionable one was behind the drivers side front wheel. Unfortunately it made no difference. Lots of weird things going on though. On the occasion where the headlights do come on and the 4 wd switch works, the headlights won't turn off........seems like the only thing left is the central timer module.

 

If you've ruled out everything else, and it seems like you have, it's time to change the CTM.
