CTM follow up
2 months ago I posted a problem I was having with my 2002 Dakota. The issue was that the headlights, domelights, pwr doors, and key FOB failed at the same time. Three people responded to my post, and all three pretty much agreed it was something called a central timing module that needed replacing. It has since been to three different mechanics, and the problem has not been solved. The local Dodge Dealership has had it for the last three days now, and is totally clueless. How is this possible? Any comments?
I'll throw in my 2 cents and agree, CTM.
The headlights, interior lights, and power door locks are all controlled by the central timer module.
I don't know what is going on at your dealership. The only way to do it is to run each wire and then, if there are no other problems found, replace the CTM. The system itself is fairly simple:
Headlight switch - CTM headlight switch sense. CTM outputs go high for the headlights.
Dome light - CTM courtesy lamp sense. Bulbs are always "hot", ground side is switched by CTM.
Door locks - Power from CTM feeds the lock switch, signal is multiplexed (different resistances for open/close) to ground. Output from CTM to door lock motor.
The only common item is the CTM.
