Default Headlight Issue

Hey, I haven't posted here before, but I figured I'd give it a shot.
Firstly, I have looked all over the place both on Dodge Forums and the WWW for people who are having similar issues, I haven't been able to find any that are quite the same. So I'll explain.

I have a 1997 Dodge Dakota SLT V8 5.2L.

My low-beams do not turn on. I have checked the plugs to the headlights, they're receiving power, and not receiving power with the headlight switch on/off respectively. I replaced the headlights, thinking "Oh, they're just dead" (Truck purchased last week), but, nope. They still don't work, and I'm at a loss.

The Haynes book, and some other sources on the internet suggest that it could be my daytime running lights module, I haven't tested this yet, I wanted to check here, first.

Another issue (that I'm not sure if it's related or not) is that the high-beam switch won't lock on. However high-beams will work if the switch is held.

Other info: Parking lights work, reverse works, signal works..

So, if anyone's had this, and knows how to fix it: Please help!

Check the "high beam switch" called a multifunction switch.

I think you're seeing the "Flash to Pass" feature and not actually switching high/low beams.

Yeah, 'flash to pass' works on the multifunction high-beam/signal switch, just for some reason when that switch is pulled all the way back to 'lock' your high-beams on, it won't stay.

However the low-beam headlight switch is a completely other switch, located to the left on the dash. This controls the headlights and cargo lights. I have pulled that switch out and tested it, everything seems fine. Sorry for not clarifying better.

Then the multifunction switch is bad

The multifunction switch is the wiper the high low beam and wiper speed and turn lights all in one lever on the column

The multi-function switch (high/low beam) switch does not "stay" in place, like some Ford's do. It just "clicks" and goes back to position, toggling high/low beam.

It does sound like you need to replace the switch.

Yeah, I see that now. Oops.

Got a multi-function switch off a 1999 Dakota, will put that in tonight and see how that goes.

Okay, so: replaced multi-function switch, and all issues were fixed.
