Crank Position Sensor
I had a exhaust shop weld in a bung for an extra o2 sensor (for an Air/Fuel gauge) yesterday. Due to the position it needed to be placed it was easiest to cut both the downpipes in order to weld the top section of the insert with the new o2 sensor in. After a long time it was ready.
When they tried to start it, it would only spin over and not fire up. It had thrown a P0320 code, Crank Shaft Position sensor fault.
I'm pretty sure that they cut or burned one or both of the wires whilst working on the exhaust, as one of the downpipes runs quite close to wher they were working. They are insisting that its just a coincidence that it should fail at this time!
My question is: Has anyone just had a sensor go from working perfectly in the morning to the car not starting in the afternoon? Does this happen or are there normally signs of it starting to go before it fails compleatly?
I'm pretty sure they are BS'ing me, as they are being most helpful getting it fixed, short of admitting they messed it up in the first place! I just want some ammo when it come to paying the bill!

Yea I’m sure you are getting the we messed up but don’t want to pay for it crap unless they are paying for it then ok.
This can be hard to fight all you can do is try to get them to pay for it

My crank position sensor failed at about 1500 miles. It was intermittent for a day or two, the truck would start, then wouldn't, would, etc.
This was 12 years ago so Dodge fixed it under warranty.
