Default 2001 headlight issue

The low beam only, won't work on the passenger side of my Dakota club cab. It has a keyless entry system. Bulb is fine and driver's side headlight works fine.

I will move this to the 2nd generation Dakota sub-section.

Just in low beam? Hopefully it's the socket otherwise it sounds like the CTM then.

Take the headlight out. With a testlight or meter, from the violet with white tracer wire to a clean ground you should have 12 volts. Make sure there is no corrosion.

We can test the wiring from the CTM if that doesn't work.

I too am having a similar issue with my 01. My driver side headlight is stuck on high beam and will NOT switch down to lowbeam. The passenger side works just fine.

As crazy as it sounds have you checked the bulb, just in case something weird is going on with it?

If so, are you able to troubleshoot some wiring?

Disconnect the battery. Take the bulb out.

Pull connector 3 on the CTM. It's the smallest connector.
Find the pins that have the light green with brown tracer wire AND the violet with white wire.

There should be NO continuity between the wires. If there is, there is a cross short.

One end goes to the CTM pin 3 on connector 3. The other to the headlight.

Here is the CTM end:

Where is the CTM located? I have everything hooked up properly Viol/white to Lowbeams and Gr/Brown to highbeams with NO high beams or Low beams... I have 1 single black wire that has power to it and when I connect it to either the Vio/White wire or the G/Brown wire I get power to that light. I am baffled.

The CTM is near the parking brake pedal.

Where was this wire you found disconnected? This black wire with power, where is that? At the headlight socket? If you take the bulb out there shouldn't be any power there, it's a ground.

The black wire comes from, I believe the CTM. The weird thing is that once I hooked up the Green/Brown wire up to the headlight plugin, my drivers side head light would flash on/off constantly. I am completely lost now.
