My Herculiner Bed Liner Project

My Herculiner Bed Liner Project
I have had the last few days off work. My the last few years I have been wanting a bed liner in my truck, but never got it done. I almost had it sprayed in, but shelling out $550 to get it done did not go over well with me. So I picked up a Herculiner kit for about $89. I bought gloves, extra paint brushes and some 60 Grit sand paper for orbital sander.
My bed had scratches and rust in it, I wanted to make sure I removed all rust and treat the spots. I decided to sand as much of the bed as I could and make sure other areas were really scuffed up.
So here are a few pictures. I am pretty happy how it turned out, I have never used this before.

The Herculiner is very thick after two coats. I know on www.herculiner.com you can get other colors, I bought this off the shelf at a local auto store, all they had was the black.

It has been only a week or so, and I should mention I have gotten alot of compliments on it. I should have done it a long time ago. I am still waiting for the UV protection kit to come in the mail.
First thing you want to do is wash and sweep out the bed.
Then Tape off areas you don't want to sand or get the liner on.
After you sand it, or scuff it up, you wipe it down really well with Acetone which was already mentioned.
First coat is a light roll on, you use a paint brush for the corners or areas you cannot use the rollers.
It said to take off the tailgate. It did not. I wish I would have, but since I did this for my first time, I wanted to make sure I could still close it, but now that I know it does not add too much thickness, I would do the bottom and sides of the tailgate.
You have to wait about 4 hours for the first coat to dry and then you do the second coat. The instructions say to do the second coat within 24 hours.
Hope that helps.
