Talking 4.7 to 5.9 diesel conversion

Okay I have a question, I have to rebuild my 2002, 4.7, 4wd Dak and my son is trying to talk me into doing a diesel swap instead. My question is how hard would this be? I know I will probably need to replace the transmission as it only has the 45REF, but does anyone know how much modifications I would need to do to mount the different engine, and is there enough room to in the engine compartment for the 5.9? Any suggestion and help with this information would be great.
Thank you.

You couldnt do the 5.9 as its too long you would have to modify part of the fire wall and tranny tunnel. You could on the other hand do a 3.9 4bt. Its exactly like the 5.9 only 2 less cylinders.

Thank you for the information, I will let my son know that the 5.9 will not fit, but not sure if I am going to tell him that the 3.9 4bt will. Not sure if I could talk him into not trying that on my truck.
