my 2004 dakota 4x4 slt cc with a 4.7l has no fender emblems only markings are the 4x4 on the bedsides dakota and slt on the tailgate and all three are just stickers the magnum on any 4.7l is a error on the factory just like the 2001 cobras with fiberglass hoods have grounding straps attached to the hood but no were on the body why a oversight by the factory

I'm confused on the 4.7 not being a Magnum engine though. My air intake says it right on it, "Magnum 4.7 V8". I have a friend with the same year Dakota only it's CC and not a QC and it says the same thing, and another friend with an '03 Ram with the 4.7 that says the same thing on the air intake. All state, "Magnum 4.7 V8".

Not to mention the I don't know how many articles I've read that specifically refer to the 4.7 as a Magnum.
All that stuff means absolutely nothing. The 4.7L V8 is a Powertech engine regardless of what the intake says. It is not a Magnum engine. I understand that it doesn't make any sense.

Yea they made a mistake, they made a mistake in dropping the bulletproof 318 in favor of a dohc v8 with little/no modification support. Heck the 5.2 was chryslers bread and butter motor since the early/mid sixties, may have been earlier than that even lol.

I trust you guys are right about the 4.7 not being a Magnum, it's just crazy and confusing to me how Dodge could badge so much stuff with "Magnum" incorrectly even well after the 2000 model year. I have seen at least 3 '04's that say it (mine being one) and an '03 which was a Ram 1500.

What exactly makes a Magnum a Magnum? I've read things that say it means nothing and it just a name they decided to call some engines, basically just something they thought sounded cool.

Have also read that in a Dodge the 4.7 is called a Magnum and in a Jeep it's called a Power Tech, basically back to it just being a meaningless name. And I've actually seen my exact engine in a Jeep with the same intake but instead of saying Magnum is said Power Tech.

That's just reading random stuff on the interweb, so who knows, figure if anyone is gonna know for sure it's gonna be guys on here, so that's why I ask.

Any expert knowledge in what makes a Magnum a Magnum, or if it's just a name? Also is the 4.7 truly what is reffered to as a "Semi Hemi", does it have semi hemispherical pistons and combustion chambers?

Thanks. Just random stuff that rattles around in my head and makes me crazy I guess, haha.

So even the window sticker's in '03 were calling the 4.7 a Magnum??

Now I am completely confused. Does not even Dodge know that they are Power Tech's, or are they called Magnum in Dodge's?

Does Magnum actually mean anything, does Power Tech???

Of course Dodge is aware that its a PowerTech, how stupid do you think they are? All it is is an engine maker so it means absolutely nothing.

What do you mean engine maker? Magnum's are made by somebody different than Power Tech's?

I'm just asking if "Magnum" actually means anything or if it's just a name. Is there any actual difference in an engine called a Magnum or one called a Power Tech?

Just trying to find out what it means, not saying anyone is right or wrong.
