Default Please help!!!! P0305 and P0605 codes!!!

Hey guys I need some help. I have a 2000 R/T. On the way home from work today my engine started to knock when I gave it some gas and running really rough. It seemed like it wasn't idling too well either along with shaking. The check engine light came on so when I got home I checked the the codes and came up with P0305 and P0605. I know the 0305 is an ECM error and the 0605 is a misfire in the #5 cylinder. What would cause the ECM error, misfire and the knocking??? I figured that if the ECM had an error and was not telling the #5 cylinder to fire that would cause both of those codes, but would that also cause the knocking?? Also the knocking is coming from the back driver side of the engine. Thanks guys for the help in advance.

P0305 is the misfire. Start off by pulling the plug and check it out. From there check the cable and cap/rotor.

P0605 comes up as a ROM check failure for the TCM but the 5.9 doesn't use a separate TCM like the 4.7 - so maybe it's a PCM issue.

Would that also explain the loud knock? Cause its not your typical knock and it started the same time as the misfire.

Pull the plug, you may have other problems going on. At least that way you'll have an idea as to what the cylinder is doing.

Does it sound like a rod knock?

Well I know its the back driver side and if the code is showing a misfire in the number 5 cylinder so I assume that is the one knocking. I don't know if it is a rod knock or not but I know its not your typical lifter knock sound, its much louder and has a "bigger" sound is the only way I can explain it.

You're going to have to do some investigating.

1. Pull the plug. What is it's condition?
2. Check the compression on the cylinder.

Those are the easy things. If it is as bad as you make it sound you are going to have to pull the pan off and see what is going on in the crankcase.

I would bet that you broke a valve spring and bent a push rod.Mine did the same as yours loud knock and misfire code and ran like crap.

For what its worth i had a car once that a plug wire fell off of. It made a knocking noise too. I assume it was because there was unburnt fuel in that cylinder causing it to be very hard to compress at tdc. Once i replaced the wire it quit and never heard it again.
