Default HELP! 2002 dodge dakota 4x4 problem

hi i have a 2002 dodge dakota 4.7. the other day i went to use the 4 wheel drive high it worked till i made a right turn and it knocked out of 4 wheel to 2wheel. Now when i drive the truck in 2 wheel i have a grinding knocking sound coming out of the front end at all speeds, i noticed today when i put it in 4 wheel high that anything over 25 miles the knocking goes away completly with a slight shake above 50 mph. also when i use 4 wheel low it works flawless i cant think of what it could possibly be i would apprectiate any advise

Thanks Chris

Hard to believe this was not answered.

Possibly due to where you posted it... under General Discussion. Post a new thread directly within the 2nd Gen page for better help.

What transfer case do you have? Since you're saying 4 hi and 2 wheel I'm guessing it's the NV233.

It's not a full time 4wd transfer case. Were you need on a slippery surface.

Check your front driveshaft. It's not uncommon to have noise/vibration from a bad cv joint on the driveshaft.

I have an 04 Dakota SXT 4x4 and I brought it into the Dodge dealership because I had the same problem and they said I broke the CV joint on the front drive shaft..
