i had the same problem, my wheel bearing came apart on me while driving. had it towed, and fixed it, buw when i putting the caliper back on, the sliding stud, would thread in, but wouldnt torque down, so i said screw it and set up similar to a ford, just a nut an bolt system, i replaced with grade 8 and its been holding since.. 5 months of wheelin, daily driving, and trailer towing.

i drive Commercial with my dakota, so like the semi's in MASSACHUSETTS, on ANY commercial vehicle needs to have a daily inspection log book.. i have NEVER took my truck out of service for brake issues since i replaced the hardware

Well dad and I looked at it and couldn't find a bad bearing. It makes going going left but not right (so a right bearing), but the noise comes from the left. Dad thinks it's just tire noise.

The proper fix, weld the casting, install caliper, mark center on sliders, redrill and tap.
Helicoils work well in blind holes, not so well in open holes(removal is a problem)

Cheapest solution - buy new oversized pins.
easier solution, make a pin, drill to next over size and tap.

Rotate the tires and see if the noise changes.
