Question '98 Dodge Dakota -- Max Tire Size?

I'm purchasing a used 1998 Dodge Dakota (3.9L v6, VIN: 1B7FL26X5WS665460). The current tires are 225/75/15.

I want to elevate the underside as much as possible, for cheap of course. We're taking the vehicle to a rugged country. Can you tell me the largest tire size i can purchase? Is the "15" part all that matters?

Thanks

The 15 is the size of your rims, the P225 is the witdth of the tire, and the 75 is the profile.

The biggest tires you can fit on the truck are 31 inch tires (LT31x10.5x15), 32 inch if you crank the torsion bars, 33 inch if you do a body lift. Wouldn't recommend going any higher than 33's on our trucks. (LT31x10.5x15).

Just do a conversion to find the P metric equivalent if you want to go with those.

Thank you. It seems the conversion of LT31x10.5x15 is equiv to P267/76/15

If my math is correct that is like 33mm taller than the original: P225/75/15 = LT28/8.86/15

Does it look correct?

How did you find this info out?

Dakotas come stock with 31 inch tires and the equivalent is like P265/70R15, or P265/75R/15 - which is more like a a 32" inch tire.

https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...-dakota-4.html

Check that one out for more information.

The height is a little different, but the difference in the width of the tire is most notable.

Correct as said, 31" unless you start lifting it.
