There's no cabin air filter in a 2ng gen Dakota.

It's probably the foam on one of the actuator doors.

its not those foam filter type things its an actual filter. I've done research and on every site it says there's no cabin filter. I'll post a picture of it after work.. if you take out your blower resistor you can see it..mine is dirty as hell but I have no idea how to get to it

The newer 2002 to 2004 as far as I know may just may have a foam filter over the inside air duct but if it can be removed and cleaned is a good question.

I dont have a newer 2002 to 2004 Dak so Im guessing but they changed the HVAC so much at that time this is what I found in the 2002 service manual and its way different than my 98 Dakota HVAC.

I think there is a foam filter over the location in the pic labled #6

My suggestion is remove your glove box and take a look back there you just may be able to very cautiously vacuum the foam filter or maybe see if it can be removed.

I think you may be seeing the evaporator core but I'll be waiting to see the pic.
