Default Advice for Power Adders

I have a 2004 4.7 dakota with a superchips tuner, performance air filter ,fan delete and total synthetic oil change. i would like to bump up the ponies especially for towing. are headers a wothwhile option? are some (jba) better than others? also i see airram sells adapters to use a 2008 and newer intake. they say maybe 25hp, is this what people have been getting? is it worthwhile to get a different throttle body or is the stock one ok? thanks

Go with a fastman throttle body. You will notice a improvement. What do you have done to the exhaust now? Honestly the 4.7 manifolds flow just as well as aftermarket headers. There isnt really any reason to spend money on them unless you want your engine bay to look pretty.

i'm glad to hear that about the exhaust manifolds because my muffler shop said that headers are definitely for people who like to tinker, always needing attention. i am ordering a throttle body tomorrow.

I plan on moving straight to a Hemi 5.7 if I get the itch for more power....but I'm a glutton for punishment. lol

just put on a fastman tb, it seems quicker. we will see how the mileage does and of course towing.

the throttle body makes a difference on fuel mileage, and i really notice more lugging power towing.

how many miles were on the motor when u switched to synthetic? just curious, i have 108k on my 99 5.2L dak and was considering doing basically everything you have done including hughes plenum plate and sct tuner. not sure about whether a fastman tb would be an option for mine or not..but anyway, this is ur post..mostly just wondering about the mileage

i switched at 60000 mi or 100 km. in my experience you can go safely up to 85000 mi as long as you feel it is healthy. maybe others will say you can go longer that is my experience. the fastman tb really works good with the other stuff, you can really see the difference towing.
