Default Ticka-ticka-ticka sound on start up and metalic odor

I have a 2000 Dakota 4.7L V8. When I start it up, there is a "ticka-ticka-ticka" sound. I can't really hear it from the inside of the cab and it's pretty soft even standing right in front of the hood. After driving for a short while, maybe 5-10 minutes, and when I step around the front of the truck, I notice a faint, metalic-ish odor. It's not real strong, but definitely noticeable. There is no fluid in my parking spot.

Any ideas?

check exhaust manifold bolts. Passenger rears are prone to shearing off

It could be some old gas from the last fill up just wait for the tank of gas you now have to go emty fill her up and see if it still smells.

If not you may be running a bit lean

not sure what a metallic odor is, but the ticking could be a bearing or lifter, among other things. If the ticking goes away quickly, lifter. If it takes longer to go away, bearing or otherwise.
