Ticka-ticka-ticka sound on start up and metalic odor
I have a 2000 Dakota 4.7L V8. When I start it up, there is a "ticka-ticka-ticka" sound. I can't really hear it from the inside of the cab and it's pretty soft even standing right in front of the hood. After driving for a short while, maybe 5-10 minutes, and when I step around the front of the truck, I notice a faint, metalic-ish odor. It's not real strong, but definitely noticeable. There is no fluid in my parking spot.
not sure what a metallic odor is, but the ticking could be a bearing or lifter, among other things. If the ticking goes away quickly, lifter. If it takes longer to go away, bearing or otherwise.
mine warped , the drivers side manifold, i too heard the tick after it warmed it went away cause the manifold expanded..had it replaced,,drove me nuts for a few
