California exhaust??
it is time to fix the exhaust since the rust spots are now turning into holes. Since i am also looking at moving to california. what would be some good recomendations to look at since the rules are pretty strict out there. as for what type of cat and mufflers to look at. i really don't want to have to redo everything once i move out there.
with the little bit of searching the stores here the only thing that i can find is a magnaflo cat. that will meet cali standards. so far i haven't found any mufflers. do the mufflers have different standards there, or is it just the cats.
any input would be awesome!!
thanks

A little off topic but were in CA and why you know its very expensive to live in CA rent is very high same price of homes.
I know I lived in southern CA close to Disneyland most my life and down by the Beach also.
Weather is its best point but traffic is astronomical at rush time bumer to bumper is the norm for 4 hours or more.
Be ready for a shock as its a whole different world

she is looking at the thousand oaks area. both of us are looking a the work aspect of things. no one is even nibbling on her apps and i need to work more the 5 or 6 months a year. that and the weather is a big kicker. really tired of this cold s%$t.
I dont know that area to well off my radar that area could be a bit decimated as I think it was a housing boom city and it looks like its on the edge of the Desert
You may want to look up the coast at Santa Barbara beautiful area but not cheap to live in kind of upscale but a great place to live if you can afford it
It all depends on the job you can get.
That area has amazing weather

since i am in the sheet metal workers union. i will be transfering to a different local. if the info i got is correct. should be making close to 40 an hour. need to look into that more to be sure tho. my main concern is if the is enough work there. plus i can start my mowing business started out there too. since i already have all the equipment for that too.
To answer your question, the replacement cat has to be on the approved list for your specific vehicle. The smog inspector WILL check the part number and verify that. I know Walker makes some approved ones, not sure about Magnaflow.
The nice thing about California is that we don't have those stupid annual "safety" inspections.
By the way, $40/hr is pretty decent money, but don't expect it to go nearly as far around here, where everything is priced as though it were made from solid gold.
