Default Need more power! for 4.7

hey guys what should i do i would love more power. im getting **** mpg so i dont care if it makes my mpg worse lol dont know how its possible but

so far i have exhaust and intake i had good power till i got the lift and bigger tires i could do gear swap but looking into it it will cost me like $2000 so if there is a different way in getting better power what should i do?


what would give me a noticable amount of power if anyone could help me with what would and the cost price and roughly how much power increase it will give me i would really appreciate it

SCT Tuner... Check out Hemifevertuning.com

I bought my tuner for my 3.9 from him and it's awesome. For sure the best mod for the money. Another thing is taking off your clutch fan and putting an electric fan on. Did that too, and it freed up some more power.

I got my tuner with 3 tunes (1 for 87 octane, one for 89 and one for 93) for like $265

Electric fan is less than $100, but I ran without any fan for awhile and it's fine as long as you're not sitting for too long.

You need HO camshafts. Keep an eye out for them on the dodge forums. They can run $250 -$400 depending on if many are for sale. I think Chrysler stopped making them.

I have the HO cams, a 3" body lift, 285/75/16s, flowmaster50 muffler, and a Superchips tuner on my 03 QC 4x4 and average about 15.4 mpg, city and highway combined.

The HO cams are the best mod I have done on my Dakota.

If you go for the Cams, make sure you get the Manifold to match. I fitted KRC 212x cams (like H.O cams but with a little more overlap) to the original manifold (2000) and was a bit disappointed. They gave a bit more top-end but lost some mid-range and low-down grunt.

I then fitted a 2005-7 manifold and it made a HUGE difference. More power EVERYWHERE! A 2008-onwards manifold will take the peak power even higher but I've heard that its at the expense of some mid-range. You also need a rather expensive adaptor for the 08+ manifold, as these had an electronic throttle. I therefore recommend the 2005-7 version.

I had to wait over three months for it to come in at the dealers (everyone else had the same idea!) but was well worth the wait. I did get one off THAT auction site but when it finally turned up it was junk. I was surprised how reasonable the original dealer sourced one was. About $150, compared to 2nd hand ones for $100-120.

Forgot to mention that the cams/manifold are in addition to all the other regular bits and pieces.

All of this is controlled by a SCT tuner running a custom tune from Sean at Hemifever.

1. cai
2. fastman throttle body
3. 2008 intake with adapters
4. H.O. cams
5. comp cams springs
6. headers
7. clutch fan delete
8. sct tunner
10.balanced injectors
11.sonnax
12. power wire
13.180 thermostat

that's just the base list of mods

Im just curious to see how many actually HP you gain by doing those mods? Anyone ever dyno one?

There is some guy that did a pretty substantial amount of mods, and get around 240whp out of his truck. +20% in horsepower.
