I think my parking brake had something to do with it. It doesn't work so I'm assuming someone hit it and it never released.. certainly never felt like it was still grabbing.
sounds like the PB cable got snapped. You'd know if it was engaged when you took the shoes off because you wouldn't have been able to get them or the drum off.

Theres definitely a lot of slack in the cable, but I'm not sure where it snapped. I've basically been avoiding it since I never use it.

The drum came off with a couple whacks with a hammer, same with the passenger side.

I wouldnt worry about the whole throwing it in park thing. We had a 89 s10 for our camp beater truck. We abused it and after awhile we lost brakes! We just used it in 4lo and if we needed to stop we just would throw it in park or reverse. We did this for a few months and still the tranny was fine. lol

Haha oh man I'm surprised you didn't kill the tranny sooner.

My friend would rip on is 00 Acura EL by doing burnouts from first flooring it in reverse, then flooring it in drive.

It lasted 3 weeks.

Well it wasnt everyday use but she took it! I will honestly say for 189k on it the damn thing it rode like a friggin caddy off road! We jumped it once about 8 feet! we got our 200.00 worth out of it! lol

he uses a lot of brake fluid. but he can stop any time.
