Default Checking the coil...

Many of you may recall I recently changed my #7 coil....

I started it yesterday and knew there was an engine issue. Drove it a few miles to see if it would clear itself. then CEL came on. Code says P0307 Cyl 7 missfire and P0357 Ignition Coil G. Possible a Rock Auto coil is bad after only a month?

What if the connector was not pushed in all the way? First thing I checked was the connector and noticed it was not seated to the "click". Of course, this did not correct the problem.

Thanks y'all.

very possible. We lost a coil in the camaro a few weeks ago, it shut off driving through the pits but refired, made 4 good passes, loaded up fine. Went to start it when we got home and the coil wasn't passing a spark. MSD warranty'd it, only 6 months old.

Cool

It does happen every part is made in China so quality is not what it used to be.

Bad new parts are common now get used to it.

Just expect it and take things back thats all

This is not the America of 10 or 15 years ago new strategies are needed the world is a mess get used to it

How about driving it to the parts store? Being #7, it is easy to change out and can be accomplished in their parking lot. Else, it takes about 30-40 minutes round trip.

Won't drive it if y'all say it's stupid to do so.

Thanks again!

I wouldn't drive it.

If it's misfiring it may be putting fuel into the cat, and I wouldn't want to kill one because of it. What if it isn't the coil???

Pull the plug and have a quick peek too. Sometimes when you pull the plugs you loosen carbon up and it can foul the plug, or maybe you used a little too much antisieze.

Good points.

Pulled the plug. It "looked" fine.

I will ask the wife pick up a new coil on her way home at lunch.
