Default 5.9 Oil Use

Just got to 130k on my 5.9. Runs great. Just checked oil and its a quart low at 2200 miles. With 10w30, does a quart every 2000-2200 miles sound decent?

You're doing fine.

Supposedly, up to (down to?) 1000 miles/qt is considered "normal."

And, you know your plenum gasket is good.

Is the PCV working OK? Also different brands of oil can be consumed or burned at different rates. I just found that out for myself, on my last oil change I wanted to try a synthetic blend so I used Kendall GT-1 and it seemed to run fine, but last week I was down over half a quart at about 2500 miles. My oil pressure seemed to be reading lower on the gauge too, even though I recently changed my oil pressure sending unit not long ago, but we all know the Dodge oil pressure gauge is not exactly accurate. I do wonder if the titanium content on the GT-1 fouled out my oil pressure sending unit a bit.. I changed my oil today and went back to the Quaker State conventional I have been using for several years now. My engine runs a lot smoother and quieter and the oil pressure is reading correctly again too. When I use Quaker State my oil consumption is very low, maybe 1/4 of a quart in 2500 miles. This is on my 3.9 with 154,800 miles on it. Maybe you could try a different brand of oil and see if there is any improvement.
