Even if you drive it in 4WD, it won't hurt anything (unless you have a full-time AWD system, in which case you should ignore everything I just told you).

Good luck. And BTW, the driveshaft is on the driver's side, so it could still sound like that's where it's coming from.

So I crawled back under the truck this morning and everything looks fine.

The CV joint going to the transfer case looks fine, no grease leaking or metal shavings. I shook it with both hands and I got no movement.

I also checked the inner CV joints in which both boots also looked fine, no signs of grease leaking.

I'm really at a loss as to what this can be. Anymore suggestions before I take it into the shop?

Right now it's more of an irritant than anything, but the same noise has been happening for quite sometime and I'm just worried about something failing. I plan on hitting some trails 3 hrs from where I live with a buddy for his bday and I really don't want anything to snap.
