Default Cargo Light Question

I was comparing my dads 1997 F150 to my Dakota and I realized that on the F150 when you open the door the cargo lights come on. I'm pretty sure mine don't come on when the door is open but I won't know for sure until the camper shell is off. Is it possible to tie the cargo lights in with the courtesy lights to make them come on with the door open? I've read that '01 and up the lights are supposed to come on but I don't know.

Can you tie them together, probably. By default they don't come on with the doors

The CTM controls the bed and interior lighting. Likely it could be done via programming but I know of no such option.
