Default Torsion bar won't install

I am in the process of replacing my control arms and can't get the t bar to install. If I install the bar in the key I can't get it into the lower control arm. If I install the bar in the control arm I can't get it in the key. What am I doing wrong?

What year of truck do you have so I can move this into the correct forum?

When I replaced my lower ball joints I had to remove the control arm with the t-bars still attached. I could not get them apart. But I was able to get everything back together. I slid the end of the bar into the key, which was loose, and used a jack to position the control arm where it needed to be. Then I tightened the key bolts and control arm bolts.

Hope that helps a little.
