I have this ho hum sound coming from my right drivers side tire area. it seems wen going straight or turning right it is pronounced and if I turn left it seems to go away. I have a lot of tire noise. also I took a sharp turn to right yesterday and heard a clunk from same area. I haven't had a lot of experience with this type of prob so ne advice will be helpful. im driving a 2002 Dakota 4x4 slt qc 4.7l.

Jack up the front wheels one at a time. Grasp the tire at the top and the bottom and try to rock it from side to side. If it moves, have somebody else look under neath the truck to see if the movement is in the ball joints or the bearings. If it doesn't move back and forth, rotate the wheel slowly by hand and feel for any roughness. That would be wheel bearings.

It sounds to me like your problem is bearings (assuming, of course, that your brakes aren't metal-to-metal or something like that).

brakes are all good. one other thing I forgot to put in is wen im drivn on the ****ty side rds it feels kinda loose and sounds like a clunking. does the ball joints affect ur alignment at all. the truck doesn't veer either way or pull at all. brakes rubbing would make it pull a lil right

The hum is a bearing, most likely the right front. You may not be able to feel any play in it unless it is really bad.

The clunk could be a ball joint.

I hacked the truck up and found wat i think is bad wheel bearings. Is it right that yhe whole hub assembly moves is that just the bearings or does it mean that there is more probs. Correct me if im wrong but the whole assembly has to be replaced with the bearing right? Wat is the pressure that i need to torque on it wen i put it back together. Thanjs for all the help so far

Thats for the three nuts that connect the assembly to the knuckle. Is it the same for the castle nut
