I fired the Dakota up for the first time at about 3:15pm today, I turned it over for a good minute to let oil cycle all around, then I plugged in the coil, turned the key and Cranked on, no codes, no problems, no knocks, sounds BEAST with no exhaust hooked up

LOL, I did say that didn't I...... Uhm.... I don't have many shots of the install, once I bolted the engine to the transmission, I kicked in overdrive and did it all myself with the crane and a tranny jack, ill look through my phone and see what I have, I did everything in 2 days, but I ended up not being able to turn it on due to the rod that connects to the clutch master cylinder being broken off completely, then I like a dumbass broke the slave cylinder

^ Im sorry 98Dakaz, you guys didn't seem too interested... i already got a son that makes that face, don't need anymore of it... LOL

I am stuck not being able to move the truck because of the broken master/slave cylinders..

do you guys think the clutch master and slave cylinder from a ram will work in a Dakota? a guy said as long as its not the 5.9 then yes, but im not trying to go out there into the junkyard and find out first hand, if no one knows ill have to find out for myself, on Autozones pics, the Ram is straight and the Dakota is downwards

I ask because the Local Pull n pay only has Two 1997 Dakotas and two 2001 Dakotas, and Durangos... unfortunately only were made in Automatic... what a shame...

Alright well...... I drove the Dakota around today, drives good, except I need a new rack and pinion..

When I tap the brakes to slow down, the wheels lock up, I was told this is the rear axle sensor...

I have never heard of this causing brake lockup?

Were you having a problem before this?

Bleed the brakes and see if it helps.

Very strange

yes ive had this problem since I owned the truck, theres a sensor on top of the rear axle and if its bad causes the wheels to lock up on the slightest tap of the brakes (What ive READ...) so people think im slammin on the brakes and im barely touching them

I believe something is different in the brake system because there appears to be a line that was added later that runs around the front of the bay from one side to the other, im not sure though, ill take a look at the manual
