You can lighten it up by about 115 grains if you get that lump of lead out of your butt.

Smart ***..... LOL

But on a serious note I realized why dodge trucks aren't too good in the mud, all of the weight of the truck is the Front Clip.... theres TOO much metal IMO, the dodge ram 2500 cummins we had, had no traction, u could NOT Drive it in the Rain.... you wouldn't go anywhere

I too hope the splines on the clutch disk went out, because u have to think... those input shafts are Hardened steel.. and for what I was doing, its highly unlikely that I stripped the input shaft, and if you guys are telling me the AX-15 is in the Dakota and can be applies to stronger motors... I doubt its the input shaft splines

IS this the clutch kit I need ---> LuK 05-089 Clutch Set

I don't know if that's the right part number you need, but I have installed lots of Luk clutches in other vehicles, and they are great quality. You can't go wrong with that brand.
When you get it apart, IF I'm correct, you'll see that the splined hub in the disc is torn out of the sheet metal that forms the disc. The spines in the hub and the shaft will be fine - it's the connection from that hub to the disc that fails.
Good luck with it!

im Very good at distinguishing sounds, and that was my First Guess and still sticking to it, my brothers think the disk shredded into pieces, my dad thinks the splines are stripped, and I agree with you...

Today I am pulling the motor/transmission out, I have a full rebuild kit, and am going to hot tank the block, I may just clean the head up really good and that's it on the top, because its got 165k and sounds perfect... I will talk with my brother about that then make a final decision about the top end...

I think im going to do the full rebuild, new clutch kit, paint the truck with bedliner, Fix the A/C and list it on C/L for a high number until someone decides to call me.... Then ill get my hands on one of these v8 Dakotas, don't know if ill go with 4x4 though, the weight difference is what I don't like..

I may be wrong in my thinking but if its the spline you should be able to shift in any gear same with the clutch you will just go no wear as you lost the connection to the drivetrain.

That's why I say the trans is the trashed part if you cant shift into any gear.

Now did you pull the shifter out and look at it? That may be what's broken?

I was able to shift into ALL gears, even Reverse, it was difficult to shift, but I can move from gear to gear just a tad of movement when I release the pedal in any gear

i think the center of the clutch separated

i have Everything disconnected, only have the tranny cross member to remove and im pulling it all out together

Looks like you were going to need a clutch job soon anyway that disk looks close to one or two years left on it.

You must stomp on your clutch hard a lot to snap those off
