Default 0 oil pressure

My oil pressure gauge dropped to 0 while driving so I parked it and tested the oild pressure with a manual gauge. It read 25 psi at idle and ran nice without the oil swith in place. I installed a new sending switch and that seemed to solve the problem. Not long after the gauge dropped down to 0 again and it started to tick. Could it be a short killing the switch or maybe a plugged intake at the oil pump?
Any input would be great.
Thanks

It could be something clogging the pump. When you shut it down to replace the sending unit it cleared the obstruction and just reoccurred. It's unlikely two sending units would fail.

The ticking is a sign of low oil pressure. Put the gauge on it again and verify the pressure. It may be time to drop the pan.

now iam going give you some advice, DO NOT flame me for it. i have learned this info the hard way. DO NOT use plastic tubing, do not use copper tubing.. DO use break line tubing. for a manual gauge.. plastic WILL crack. copper will split as it flexes. same on transmission coolant lines.

do you know the history of the truck/engine if the engine was not taken care of very well then theres a good chance the pan is full of sludge normally the first sign is the last adjusters making noise cause their up high then the oil pump goes
