I don't really take the truck on long trips anymore. Mostly just around where I live and an hour n' half drive south for biking/camping.
I plan on going up in gears because I eventually plan on getting bigger tires(315/75/16)/possibly new wheels & body lift once my new tires wear out. I just don't want to put a lot of extra load on the engine and transmission.
Hopefully I'll get more out of these new ones than my old ones.

 

You have the 4.7 and 3.92's, 4.10's won't be worth the investment. You have the same transmission that the Hemi gets in the ram's, so it won't mind a little more drag.

That said, 315/75/16 is a 34.5 inch tire. You'll want 4.56's for that much meat. Hell, even 4.88's may not be a bad idea. You're in TOM A's department now.

 

My truck works surprisingly well with 4.10 gears and 315/75-16 tires. But if I were going to do it again, I would go with 4.56 gears instead. If I didn't drive on the freeway so much, I would probably think about 4.88s. I may still end up switching to 4.56s some day.

The 4.10s were perfect with 33s, IMO.

 

I'll keep the 4.56 in mind I'm still not 100% on which size tire I'll wanna go with. Either 315/75r16 or 305/70r16. Just depends how much cash I have when the time comes for new tires. And even now with the 31's I have I still try to avoid highway driving when I go into town.

I eventually plan on doing an SAS but that is a long ways off. Figure this will be more beneficial for me in the long run since IFS isn't that practical for wheeling on the trails since there are a lot more parts that can break opposed to a solid axle.
