actually, it doesnt make as much of a mess as you'd think.

I put a derale 16 pass on my truck, spliced into the return going to the tailhousing. double clamped the rubber hose and barely spilled any fluid. But you have to be fast- having 1 person connect each hose after you cut it should keep the spill to next to none. I used a conduit cutter to cut the line.

man o man i about forgot yes its a cut & past sorry. __________________
after you clean the trans. add this to your*chrysler*trans. an external fluid filter
1. go to auto-zone. get 2210, its called a power steering filter, but it is for transs to. it is for 3/8 tubing. by (magna-fine) be sure to use high pressure hose. Reff:http://www.magnafilter.com.au/magna-fine.html*
2. for other sizes wix 58964 5/16 tube size reff:http://www.wixfilters.com/filterlook...sionfilter.asp
i think all the mopar trans in the 904-727 family are fluid in is the rear most fitting. my 2001 dak paper factory service manual shows the trans cooler as going into the trany in the rear most fitting. it does not say its the 42 or 46, so it must be both.

i just disconnected the trans line and had someone start the truck. waited to see which line started flowing trans fluid. turned off truck and reinstalled the line that shot fluid and cut the other line and ran my cooler hose to it.

thats what I did. Splice the rear return line and go thru 16 pass.

i have mine mounted infront of the radiator. also you want the trans cooler after the coolant goes through the radiator.

OK!,, after thinking the rear tranny line is the inlet to radiator... when I looked both lines are the same distance in refference to front/vs/rear... so which line ON THE RATIATOR is the inlet line? TOP or bottom... I'm guessing top, as engineers would have fluid flow top to bottom.?

you DO know to NOT use copper tubing, dont you. ONLY use steel tubing or high pressure hose made for cooler lines. just look at how chrysler did it. they ONLY used steel tubing. there IS a reason.
