i guess what i want know is will the 2000 motor fit in my 02 without changing anything or do you think im better off putting the chain back on my orignal motor and giving it a try but i got a feelin it bent valves from what i see these are a interferance motor? thanx for you help
The problem with a 2000 motor and your 2002 may be the tone wheels. There's two, one on the crank and one on the camshaft. They are different and not compatible. The change was made in late '02.
Take a look at your PCM on the passenger side inner fender. How many connectors are on it? If you have 3, you are running the JTEC PCM and it will work. If you have 4 plugs, it's NGK, and you'd have to swap out the tone rings. In order to do so the crankshaft has to come out.
