Default Air Filters

I was looking at some K&N air filters...does anyone use one?? They say it increases HP by up to 10, just wondering how true this was. I was also poking around lookin for a cold air intake, didn't see anything for a Dakota though....any suggestions??

What year Dak, and what size engine. Lots of CAI's out there. True Flow, K&N, AEM etc etc.

10 from an air filter i don't believe so. Maybe 2-3 at max. I was actually researching the difference in intake systems tonight. different lengths of intake tube will produce different results in different parts of the rpm range. The tendency leans towards a longer tube producing more results in lower rpm ranges while shorter tubes produce more results in the higher rpm range. For every 11 degrees in temp drop you get roughly 1% power increase.

I think it says a 10% horsepower increase, not a 10 horsepower increase.

I put a 14X3 K&N filter on my Dak R/T. Removed the air box. Don't know if it increased power, but you sure could hear it suck air. Also had chrome Mopar headers and 3" single catback with Flowmaster 40 series muffler.

So like, a K&N filter on a Hemi would net you 34.5 hP?!?!?!?!??!!!
its 10HP man, maybe 5 to the wheels

Looks good, now its time for a RAM Air or Shaker hood to take advantage, I think you wouls notice a difference once it is Force fed air.

Don't have the R/T any more. Have the Hemi Magnum now. Wife still has her 2000 Dak R/T.
