Default Help with power steering hose. Please.

04 Dakota 4.7 v8. Im having problems with leaking power steering fluid. (gushing out) I went though a whole quart in less than a hr. Ive looked on rockauto.com for the hose. All i seen is that they have the pressure hose which is not the one thats leaking. The one if im correct is the return hose im looking for. Does anybody know of some good sites i can try to find this hose? The hose im looking for has the clamp that can be losend with a screwdriver. Plastic hose attaches to the pump, down below it becomes metal and i believe i need a 16mm line wrench to take off. Ive been looking for 2 days now looks like a fix i could do. Just dont want to take to auto shop if not needed to. If there is something im missing let me know. Thanks for the help.

Ryan, when you click "reply" you'll see the paperclip symbol along the top of the "message box." Click that and it will take you to an upload page.

Hope it helps.

Ryan, you have to click the "New Reply" or "Go Advanced" boxes to see the paperclip symbol. Once you click that it takes you to the upload page.

Once you upload it, it's there. It will attach as this post shows.

That looks like a poor mans patch of a hole in the tubing to me its not supposed to be there.

I don't know your engine and power steering so you will need to wait for other people to give you the best answer on how to replace it.

Look at the pic as to what part you will need

The other line is the return line low pressure you may have a cooler in line or not is my understanding

If its the low pressure line that's leaking you may need to go to a dealer for the part or get the rockauto Power Steering Cooler Line and use the part shown as a replacement and make do.

Or cut out the rotted out part of the line and use some tubing and two clamps if you know what I mean?? That is if its the low presser line??

Glad you got the picture.

Like '98 says, that's a patch job - and a bad one to boot.

Looking at the amount of corrosion/junk around the lines, replace them. Check your dealer if you want the same style.
