Default No reverse

I've got an 01 with the 3.9l
I backed out of driveway at work tonight then on way home I tried to back into a parking space and no reverse. Drive works fine so drove home and still no reverse at home now.
Fluid is full. going to drop pan and change filter in morning, everything I read says the band needs to be re torqued. How and to what spec?

It can be LOTS of things. This is from the '01 FSM:

1. Gearshift Linkage/Cable Mis-adjusted/Damaged - Repair or replace linkage parts as
needed.

2. Park Sprag Sticking - Replace overdrive annulus gear.

3. Rear Band Mis-adjusted/Worn - Adjust band; replace.

4. Valve Body Malfunction - Remove and service valve body. Replace valve body if any valves or valve bores are worn or damaged.

5. Rear Servo Malfunction - Remove and disassemble transmission. Replace worn/damaged servo parts as necessary.
6. Direct Clutch in Overdrive Worn - Disassemble overdrive. Replace worn or damaged parts.

7. Front Clutch Burnt - Remove and disassemble transmission. Replace worn, damaged clutch parts as required.

If you choose to try adjusting the rear band:

REAR BAND
The transmission oil pan must be removed for access to the rear band adjusting screw.
(1) Raise vehicle.
(2) Remove transmission oil pan and drain fluid.
(3) Loosen band adjusting screw locknut 5-6 turns. Be sure adjusting screw turns freely in lever.
(4) Tighten adjusting screw to 8 N·m (72 in. lbs.) torque.
(5) Back off adjusting screw 4 turns.
(6) Hold adjusting screw in place and tighten locknut to 34 N·m (25 ft. lbs.) torque.
(7) Position new gasket on oil pan and install pan on transmission. Tighten pan bolts to 17 N·m (13 ft. lbs.) torque.
(8) Lower vehicle and refill transmission.

Took pan off and found this, looks like part of a snap ring.
looks like I'm tightening band and refilling fluid and pushing it backwards for awhile.
