Default Replacement Door Speakers

I have a 2001 Club Cab with the Infinity sound system. The front door speakers need to be replaced. I would like to simply replace the speakers without any major mods. Anyone have a suggestion for something around $100/pair that would provide decent bass and clean sound?

I put Kicker KS60's in mine back in January... Good speaker for the price (around $100).

Only needed to make 1 wooden bracket for each speaker. Pretty easy.

Kicker KS60's!! I was recommended to replace my stock speakers with these by Jimmy (01SilverCC) when I was looking to replace mine, and I couldn't be happier. Well, if I had a nice amp I would, but you've got the Infinity system so you should be good.

Edit: I got mine for $60 per pair on ebay

Kicker KS60. $99.00/pair at both Crutchfield and Sonic Electronix. Both sites also have free shipping. I use 2 pairs of KS60's in my truck and they are one of the very best speakers I have ever heard. I posted about my KS60's here:

Well in under 3 mins you've had 3 different people recommend Kicker KS60's...

They really are a great speaker for the price.

Well you guys beat me to it when I replied...but I do like my KS60's. They will do well on a factory Infinity amp, or even better on a more powerful aftermarket amp..Funny this should come up tonight, my old amp is having problems and I just ordered not 15 minutes ago a new Autotek M1000.4:

I also ordered an Autotek 7007 equalizer/line driver to help improve my sound a bit:

This is my first order from Sonic but I have heard many good things about them. Autotek was a great brand of amps back in the day, I hope this new amp does the trick. It should do a good job on my KS60's and my sub. I tried out a Sound Ordnance amp from Crutchfield but had to send it back, it just did not have the power I need.

Yeah I'm running KS60's on the factory amp, and one Kicker 10 powered by my Sound Ordnance amp - I was actually impressed by it. I bought it expecting to be a lower end amp but it's been good to me so far.

I was debating about adding a second sub but then Id be concerned about power.

Oh and Sonic Electronix is a good place i'll vouch for em!

WOW!!! I guess the KS60s are the way to go. I notice on the Crutchfield website they say that the KS602 "do not fit" the 2001 Dakota. So my question is what did you use for a template to make the speaker mounting plates?

Just take the little mounting bracket the give you and make a wooden copy of it and just change around the mounting holes.

From what I remember is that the speaker will mount to the bracket, but the bracket wont mount to the door.

So you just copy that bracket exactly (place it on a piece of 5/8 or 3/4 plywood or MDF and trace) and move each drill hole down like 1/4 inch so it fits the 3 holes on your door, then cut out the circle of the bracket so it fits the speaker and simply screw the speaker to the bracket.

Super easy.

KS62's will fit, they are just an oversized version of the KS60. The only difference is the KS62 woofer is a bit bigger but the tweeter is the same as a KS62. I have never heard a KS62 so I don't know for sure what they sound like, probably have a little bit more bass response than a KS60. If you make your own mounting brackets out of mdf they will fit the stock locations with no problems. I am not sure if a KS62 will fit in the plastic speaker adapters you can buy or get for free from Crutchfield. My own opinion is the plastic brackets are pretty flimsy and are not a good way to mount speakers. MDF is a much better material, it will not rattle or resonate and gives a lot more secure and sturdy way to mount the speakers. If you buy from Crutchfield they send a set of the plastic brackets and also send speaker wire harness connectors for free. The wire connectors plug into the factory speaker wire connector and take the guesswork out of identifying which wire is positive and negative.
