I have a wrecked 99 5.2L Dakota with only 72,000 mi. I also have a 2000 4.7L Dakota with 207,000 mi. I was wanting to replace the 4.7 with the 5.2 is this possible and what all will I need? both trucks are 4 wheel drive and I have everything from both trucks the 99 is wrecked and the 2000 has high mileage so I thought I could swap motors. or is this more of headache than its worth??

 

Its possible but is cheaper to find a 4.7. Wiring,mounts,computer,engine,tranny,transfer case,drive shafts. Then there is a wonder even if the old computers will work with the new style dash.

 

As long as you have a parts car it's doable. The '99 and '00 use the SAME computer bus.

You will need the engine harness, transmission, etc., out of the '99.
