yes that's correct weird it looks like you have two ports on the low side did you try both low side ports

That could be someone's mickey mouse fix for a bad low side port

I also just noticed the low side may not be correct as that looks to be on the high side also. The low side aluminum tubing is always the bigger size tubing the smaller tubing is always the high side one

Something is very weird here something is very messed up on that????

I think you need a new feed line to fix this problem as I don't think you have a low side port just two or three high side ports.

Someone hacked that thing up bad

This is what you will need yours will look different as this one is for a 2.5 engine equipped Dakota

I have one more thing to say I now think they switched the low side port onto were the high side port should be how they did that I cant say but its bad news as that port cant take the high side pressures or the high heat on that side very bad and dangerous if that exploded wow is all I will say.

So I think you will need that high side tubing and port fixed/replaced also

This is very dangerous bad crap in your Dakota Mickey mouse crap at its best/worst.

WOW and WOW I can tell because I see the wrong Schrader valve inside the what is now the low side port that's on the high side.

You may need an auto air-conditioning Pro shop to fix this crap

I am with 98Dakaz on this one, your system appears to have three high side ports and no low side port at all??? You may be able to have a shop tap a low side port into the top of the compressor in the larger port opening (so you have a port in the same location as in this photo on top of the compressor), but you should have lines that are different sized. Low side should be roughly twice the diameter as the high side line. The other two ports you have on your line at the compressor are not needed (maybe a shop can check if they leak, if not they might be able to stay where they are??). The other port you show closer to the passenger side should be your high side port, yours is a little further down the line than the one in this photo since you have a larger motor. I am guessing either someone swapped the fittings between the two ports, since your recharge can fit that port, or they took a line off a vehicle that is not compatible and put it on that truck??? I am also guessing one of those two ports on top don't work right, why would you have two side by side???

I would try to find the right replacement line, either in a junkyard or on Rockauto.com and have the system evacuated and vacuum checked to make sure other components aren't failed. Replace the line and recharge. Hopefully at that point you will be in good shape. If you are somewhat mechanically inclined you can rent a vacuum pump and gauges from your local auto part store and do it yourself. You need to make sure you have the exact amount of oil and refrigerant in the system or your AC will never work properly.

Yes I agree I recommend removing everything the compressor the lines and the condenser flush out the system if you can to get all old oil and Freon out. Don't flush the compressor or it will be trash just dump out the oil.
Then measure the proper oil fill the compressor and install it you will need a little more oil as the dryer needs some oil well the complete system needs the oil. I use a 2 or 3 oz. oil shot just before I start injecting the Freon that should give you all the oil you need.

This is important as you may be very low on oil a fresh start is best to be sure everything is OK.

Replace all ports high and low and O-rings and seals plus a new Orifice Tube

Almost forgot a new A/C Receiver Drier / Accumulator very important replace it especially if the system was empty like yours is
