The port closest to your radiator is usually the high side port the port closest to the compressor is usually the low side port

The high side will look like this Pic ignore the yes or no that's from a previous post

Are you sure? On my 98 Dakota, the low side is the one directly above the compressor and it is the smaller of the two ports. The larger port is on the passenger side of the engine compartment with the larger fitting. It is near the accumulator/drier. Most recharge kits come with the fitting for the low side port.

How did you know you needed to do a recharge? Did you get a set of gauges and check your high/low side pressures? Your low side pressure should be between 30 and 45 psi, high side is equal to 2 to 2.5 times the outside air temp. Example: If it is 100 degrees high side should be 200 to 250 psi, low side should be near 45 psi. Overcharging the system is as bad as being low on freon. Did the kit have oil in it? Too much oil will cause warm air and high pressures. Go to Autozone or O'Reillys and get a rental set of gauges and check your pressures.

I recharged it because it was blowing hot air. And the only port the can will fit on his the high port the low port on the compressor is bigger and towards the drivers side while the high is by the radiator on the passenger side

Post some pic's of these ports

The low side is always the smaller port and usually closest to the compressor
