no bus

Welcome to the forum, sorry for the trouble.
What engine/transmission?
It might be your PCM. The instrument cluster "talks" to the PCM over the CCD bus. Check the connections to the PCM, make sure all fuses are good and cables tight.
Try a "cluster" self-test. Key off, push and hold the trip reset. Turn the key on and continue holding it for about 10 seconds until CHEC appears in the display. You'll see all the lights flash and gauges sweep. If there are any faults they'll appear in the odometer - these are NOT P-Codes, they are cluster faults - just in case the cluster went bad.
